Account Setup

Get started with crisisIQ by creating your account and completing the initial setup process.

Creating Your Account

There are three ways to create a crisisIQ account:

Direct Registration

Sign up directly on the platform

Email Invitation

Accept an invitation from your organization

Join Code

Use a code provided by your administrator

Method 1: Direct Registration

Visit the Login Page

Navigate to the crisisIQ login page at your organization’s URL or the public instance.

Click 'Create Account'

Select the registration option to begin the signup process.

Enter Your Information

Provide the following details:
  • Full Name: Your first and last name
  • Email Address: A valid email you can access
  • Password: Must meet security requirements (see below)
  • Company (if applicable): Select or enter your organization

Verify Your Email

Check your inbox for a verification email and click the confirmation link.

Complete Your Profile

Add additional information like profile picture, role, and preferences.

Password Requirements

Your password must meet these criteria:
At least 8 characters long
Include at least one uppercase letter
Include at least one lowercase letter
Include at least one number
Include at least one special character (!@#$%^&*)
Choose a strong, unique password. Avoid using personal information or common words.

Method 2: Email Invitation

If your organization administrator has invited you:

Check Your Email

Look for an invitation email from crisisIQ with the subject “You’ve been invited to join [Company Name] on crisisIQ”

Click the Invitation Link

The email contains a secure link to accept the invitation. Click it to proceed.

Set Your Password

Create a password for your account (must meet security requirements)

Verify Your Email

If required, verify your email address by clicking the confirmation link sent to you

Access Your Account

Once verified, you’ll be logged in and can access your assigned role and simulations
Invitation links expire after 7 days. If your link has expired, contact your administrator to resend the invitation.

Method 3: Join with Code

Some organizations use join codes for quick access:

Navigate to Join Page

Go to the “Join with Code” option on the login screen

Enter the Join Code

Input the alphanumeric code provided by your organization administrator

Provide Your Details

Enter your name, email, and create a password

Complete Registration

Verify your email and complete your profile setup

First-Time Login

After creating your account, here’s what to expect on your first login:

1. Dashboard Tour (Optional)

New users may see a quick tour highlighting key features:
  • Navigation menu
  • Active simulations
  • Quick actions
  • Profile settings

2. Profile Completion

Complete your user profile with:
  • Profile Photo (optional but recommended)
  • Job Title/Role
  • Department (if applicable)
  • Preferred Language (German or English)
  • Notification Preferences

3. Company Selection

If you belong to multiple organizations:
  1. Use the Company Switcher in the top navigation
  2. Select the organization you want to work with
  3. Your dashboard will update to show that company’s content
Your role and permissions may differ between companies. The available features depend on your role in the selected company.

Understanding Your Role

Your account will be assigned one or more roles:
Participant - Join and complete simulations
  • Access assigned simulations
  • Participate in group exercises
  • Complete solo training
  • View personal reports and certificates

Initial Configuration

Language Preference

Set your preferred language:
  1. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner
  2. Select Language from the dropdown
  3. Choose between German (DE) or English (EN)
  4. The interface will update immediately

Notification Settings

Configure how you receive updates:
  • Email Notifications: Simulation invites, deadlines, results
  • In-App Notifications: Real-time updates while logged in
  • Push Notifications: Available when installed as PWA

Mobile Installation (Optional)

For the best mobile experience, install crisisIQ as a Progressive Web App:

Account Security

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

For enhanced security, enable 2FA in your account settings:
  1. Go to Profile > Security Settings
  2. Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication
  3. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app
  4. Enter the verification code to confirm
We recommend using apps like Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password for 2FA.

Session Management

  • Auto-logout: Sessions expire after 24 hours of inactivity
  • Multiple devices: You can be logged in on multiple devices
  • Secure connections: All data is encrypted using HTTPS/WSS

Troubleshooting Account Setup

  1. Check your spam/junk folder
  2. Verify you entered the correct email address
  3. Request a new verification email from the login page
  4. Contact support if the issue persists
Ensure your password meets all requirements:
  • At least 8 characters
  • Mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters
  • Not a commonly used password
Use the Company Switcher in the top navigation to switch between organizations. Your role may differ in each company.
  1. Ensure the link hasn’t expired (valid for 24 hours)
  2. Try copying and pasting the URL directly into your browser
  3. Request a new verification email
  4. Contact support@crisisiq.com for assistance
