Logging In to crisis IQ

Learn how to access your crisisIQ account and manage your login sessions.

Standard Login

Access crisisIQ using your email and password:
1

Navigate to Login Page

Visit your organization’s crisisIQ URL or the public instance login page
2

Enter Credentials

  • Email: The email address associated with your account
  • Password: Your account password
3

Click 'Login'

Submit your credentials to access the platform
4

Complete 2FA (if enabled)

If two-factor authentication is enabled, enter the verification code from your authenticator app
Your session will remain active for 24 hours of inactivity. After that, you’ll need to log in again.

Remember Me

The “Remember Me” option keeps you logged in across browser sessions:
Remember Me Checked
  • Stays logged in even after closing the browser
  • Session persists for up to 30 days
  • Recommended for personal devices only
Never use “Remember Me” on shared or public computers for security reasons.

Login Security

Secure Connection

crisisIQ uses industry-standard security measures:
HTTPS Encryption - All data encrypted in transit
Secure WebSockets (WSS) - Real-time features protected
JWT Tokens - Secure session management
Token Expiration - Automatic logout after 24 hours

Failed Login Attempts

Security measures for failed login attempts:
  • 3 failed attempts: Warning message displayed
  • 5 failed attempts: 5-minute lockout
  • 10 failed attempts: 30-minute lockout
  • Continued failures: Account temporarily suspended
If your account is locked due to multiple failed attempts, wait for the lockout period to expire or use the “Forgot Password” option to reset your password.

Session Management

Active Sessions

Your account can have multiple active sessions:
  • Desktop browser
  • Mobile browser
  • PWA installation
  • Tablet device
All sessions share the same authentication token and will be logged out simultaneously when you explicitly log out.

Auto-Logout

You’ll be automatically logged out if:
  • You explicitly click “Logout”
  • Your session expires (24 hours of inactivity)
  • Your authentication token is revoked
  • You change your password
  • An administrator deactivates your account

Staying Logged In

To prevent auto-logout:
  • Interact with the platform regularly
  • Keep the browser tab/window open
  • Install as PWA for persistent sessions

Multi-Device Login

You can be logged in on multiple devices simultaneously:

Desktop

Access full features on your computer

Mobile/Tablet

Use crisisIQ on the go

PWA

Install as standalone app

Multiple Browsers

Different browsers on same device
All sessions sync in real-time, ensuring consistent experience across devices.

Company Context

If you belong to multiple organizations:

Company Switcher

  1. Look for the Company Switcher dropdown in the top navigation
  2. Click to see all companies you belong to
  3. Select the company you want to work with
  4. Your dashboard and permissions update automatically
Your role and available features may differ between companies. Switching companies updates your context without requiring re-login.

Last Selected Company

The platform remembers your last selected company:
  • Automatically loads that company on next login
  • Persists across sessions
  • Can be changed anytime via the Company Switcher

Language Selection

Change the interface language at login or anytime after:
  1. Click the Language Selector (flag icon)
  2. Choose Deutsch (DE) or English (EN)
  3. Interface updates immediately
Your language preference is saved to your account.

Troubleshooting Login Issues

Use the Forgot Password feature to reset it. See the Password Reset guide for detailed instructions.
Verify that:
  • You’re using the correct email address
  • Caps Lock is not enabled
  • You’re on the correct crisisIQ instance URL
  • Your account hasn’t been deactivated
If issues persist, contact your administrator or support.
This occurs after multiple failed login attempts. Wait for the lockout period (5-30 minutes) or reset your password.
If you see a message about email verification, check your inbox for the verification email. See Email Verification for details.
Ensure:
  • Your device clock is synchronized
  • You’re using the latest code from your authenticator app
  • The code hasn’t expired (codes refresh every 30 seconds)
If 2FA continues to fail, contact your administrator to reset it.
Standard sessions last 24 hours with activity. If you’re being logged out prematurely:
  • Check if “Remember Me” is enabled
  • Verify your browser allows cookies and local storage
  • Check for browser extensions that clear cookies
  • Ensure you’re not in private/incognito mode
