Invitations & Join Codes

Learn how to join crisisIQ through email invitations or organization join codes.

Types of Invitations

There are three ways to join a crisisIQ organization:

Email Invitation

Personalized invite sent to your email

Join Code

Alphanumeric code shared by admin

Simulation Link

Direct link to join a specific simulation

Email Invitations

Organization administrators can invite you via email to join their crisisIQ organization.

Receiving an Invitation

When invited, you’ll receive an email with:
  • Subject: “You’ve been invited to join [Company Name] on crisisIQ”
  • From: noreply@crisisiq.com
  • Invitation Details: Company name, your assigned role, inviter’s name
  • Accept Link: Unique URL to accept the invitation
  • Expiration: Invitation valid for 7 days

Accepting an Email Invitation

Check Your Email

Look for the invitation email (check spam/junk folders too)

Review Details

Read the invitation to understand:
  • Which organization is inviting you
  • Your assigned role (Participant, Content Creator, Admin)
  • Who sent the invitation

Click 'Accept Invitation'

Click the acceptance link in the email

Create/Login Account

If you don’t have an account:
  • Enter your name
  • Create a password
  • Accept terms of service
If you already have an account:
  • Log in with your existing credentials
  • The organization will be added to your account

Verify Email (if new account)

Complete email verification if required

Access Organization

You’ll be directed to your dashboard with access to the new organization
If you already have a crisisIQ account, accepting an invitation adds the new organization to your existing account. You can switch between organizations using the Company Switcher.

Join Codes

Join codes provide a quick way to join an organization without requiring a direct email invitation.

What is a Join Code?

  • Format: 8-12 character alphanumeric code (e.g., ABC123XY)
  • Shared By: Organization administrators
  • Purpose: Bulk onboarding, workshop participants, temporary access
  • Expiration: Can be set by administrator (default: no expiration)

Using a Join Code

Navigate to Join Page

On the crisisIQ login screen, click “Join with Code”Or visit: https://crisisiq.com/join-with-code

Enter the Code

Type or paste the join code provided by your organization

Click 'Verify Code'

The system will validate the code and display the organization name

Provide Your Details

If you don’t have an account:
  • Enter your full name
  • Provide your email address
  • Create a password
  • Accept terms of service
If you have an account:
  • Log in with your existing credentials

Confirm Joining

Review the organization details and click “Join Organization”

Verify Email (if new account)

Check your email for a verification link

Simulation-Specific Invitations

Participants may receive direct links to join a specific simulation.

Simulation Invitation Email

When invited to a simulation, you’ll receive:
  • Subject: “You’re invited to participate in [Simulation Name]”
  • From: noreply@crisisiq.com
  • Simulation Details: Title, description, start time
  • Join Link: Direct link to the simulation
  • Requirements: May require email verification to join

Joining a Simulation

Click Simulation Link

Open the invitation email and click the “Join Simulation” link

Login or Register

  • Existing users: Log in
  • New users: Create an account

Verify Email (if required)

Some simulations require verified email addresses

Access Simulation

You’ll be directed to the simulation preparation or briefing page

Wait for Start

Follow the simulation timeline (preparation → briefing → execution → debriefing)
Simulation invitations may have specific start times. Join early to complete the preparation phase.

Invitation Status

Checking Pending Invitations

To see invitations you haven’t accepted yet:
  1. Log in to your crisisIQ account
  2. Look for a notification badge or banner
  3. Or go to Profile > Invitations
  4. Review pending invitations and accept/decline

Managing Multiple Organizations

If you belong to multiple organizations:
Switch Between Organizations
  1. Click the Company Switcher in the top navigation
  2. View all organizations you belong to
  3. Select the one you want to work with
  4. Dashboard updates to show that company’s content

Invitation Troubleshooting

  1. Check spam/junk folders
  2. Verify the administrator sent it to the correct email
  3. Whitelist noreply@crisisiq.com
  4. Ask the administrator to resend the invitation
  • Verify you entered the code correctly (case-sensitive)
  • Check if the code has expired
  • Ask the administrator if the code is still active
  • Ensure you’re on the correct crisisIQ instance
If you want to accept an invitation with a different email:
  • Create a new account with the invited email, OR
  • Contact the administrator to resend the invitation to your existing email
  • Log out and log back in
  • Check the Company Switcher dropdown
  • Contact your administrator to verify your access
  • Clear browser cache and try again

Declining Invitations

If you receive an invitation you don’t want to accept:

Click Invitation Link

Open the email and click the link

Choose 'Decline'

Instead of accepting, click “Decline Invitation”

Confirm Decline

Confirm that you don’t want to join this organization

Notification Sent

The administrator may be notified of your decline (depending on settings)
Declining an invitation doesn’t prevent you from joining later via a join code or new invitation.

Unique Tokens

Each invitation has a unique, single-use token

Expiration

Email invites expire after 7 days

Revocable

Admins can revoke invitations before acceptance

Audit Log

All invitations are logged for security

Best Practices

Only accept invitations from trusted sources
Verify the organization name before accepting
Don’t share invitation links (they’re personal)
Report suspicious invitations to support
Use join codes for temporary/workshop access
